 Culvert work in Sonora, CA

The Bank of America will be moved 50 feet east toward the corner of Stockton Street and Washington Street.

Caltrans is beginning an emergency culvert replacement project on SR-49 (Stockton Street) to improve drainage and address a partially collapsed 150-year-old culvert.

Lane shifts begin Nov. 6 at 5 p.m. between Green Street and the Downtown Plaza and will remain in place for the duration of construction.

 Expect:

• No on-street parking in the work zone

• South sidewalk closure with pedestrian detours

• Relocated bus stop at Stockton & Washington

• Modified traffic patterns

Construction is expected to wrap up in early December.

In support of Governor Newsom’s emergency declaration, this is one of several projects across the state that have been expedited to help harden transportation infrastructure. These efforts include repairing culverts, strengthening flood protection, and improving slope stability. #ElNinoPrep #Sonora
